FLINTRIDGE ESTATE

395 sq. meters / 4,250 sq. feet 4 Bedrooms / 4 Baths / Garden & Pool La Cañada Flintridge, California, USA

Flintridge Estate is a historic home built in the late 1920s by renowned architect Reginald Davis Johnson. The client called for a personalized update to the interior decoration to reflect a multi-generational home that honors the past while looking toward the future. Many existing antique furniture pieces were repaired, repurposed and recovered in exquisite fabrics by illustrious fabric houses including Clarence House Textiles, Claremont Fabrics, Rose Tarlow Melrose House, and La Maison Pierre Frey. Additional antiques were carefully sourced such as the set of c.1950s French brutalist style chairs for the Dining Room from Lee Stanton Antiques in West Hollywood. Custom furnishings were designed by the Studio including the sectional sofa and leather tray ottomans in the Family Room as well as the one-of-a-kind red bed and blue bench in one of the bedrooms. The Studio also commissioned custom Welsh style chairs and a Noguchi inspired game table hand-made by local wood artisan Greg Mitchell of West of Noble for the Great Room. The overall design concept emphasizes color and pattern in a luxurious 1920s aesthetic that is both comfortable and beautiful.
